Kentucky Heritage Applique Retreat, 2023
Calling all Kentucky Heritage Appliqué people. Based on comments made at our last KHAS meeting at Getaway we are making big changes to our 2023 Appliqué Retreat and we hope you like them. Next year we will move our retreat to Thursday-Sunday, August 3-6, 2023, and leave the State Park system. Instead we have booked the Historic Boone Tavern at 100 Main Street, Berea, KY.
Also, in lieu of a class and national teacher, we have planned several demonstrations from our own KHAS members on various aspects of appliqué. You can attend all, some or none of these demos depending on your skills and interests. Everyone says they have too many UFOs already so here is your chance to complete some of those projects. Bring your own projects and work at your own speed. No teacher deadlines to keep up with a class and no working on a project/design that’s not your favorite just so you can attend and see your friends. Beginners are welcome.
The retreat will begin Thursday afternoon at 2pm and end Sunday afternoon at 2pm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the meeting room will open at 8am.
And now for the best part - the retreat fee is only $30 for the whole weekend.
Participants will need to contact Boone Tavern at 859-985-3700 to reserve your own rooms. The cost will be $109 + taxes for a room with two beds and $85 + taxes for a single. Be sure to tell them you are with Kentucky Heritage Appliqué Society to get our special rate. There are several restaurants nearby as well as inside the hotel. All meals and lodging are on your own and not included in the retreat fee.
To reserve your spot, please register and pay your non-refundable $30 fee online at khqs.org. No refunds available unless you are on a waitlist and fail to get in. All registrations must be in by July 1st, 2023, so we have time finalize our plans to make this the best KHAS retreat ever.
