Larry had been a teacher for over 40 years, having taught kindergarten through graduate school. He began as an art teacher in the Walton-Verona Schools in Boone County. He later taught a self-contained 6th grade for several years, and later developed and implemented a program for gifted and talented students in the district. After retiring from public school teaching, he taught at Northern Kentucky University and Georgetown College. He taught art in the parochial schools system for six years and then switched to teach middle school math and science. He began his art career as a painter, working in oils and watercolors. While working on a Master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati, he took a class in batik and became interested in working with dyes and fibers. A natural progression led him to quilting. He specializes in interpreting the natural landscape. Combining his love of travel and photography with his art, he has created many art quilts depicting scenes from around the world. He has exhibited work in local shows as well as nationally (Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Ohio, Florida, and New York).
